A Struthers woman has pleaded not guilty to child endangering after police say her three-year-old son was found wandering the neighborhood.Police were called to the 3900 block of Fourth Street Thursday afternoon when a resident reported finding the child in the yard.Officers knew the child and took him to his home on the next street over.
Police say they were greeted at the door by the boy’s mother, 26-year-old Desiree Kent, who told officers that the boy must have gotten out of the home while she was in the restroom. She thanked the officers for bringing her son back, adding that she thought he was sleeping upstairs.
When police told Kent she was being arrested, Kent told officers she needed a minute on her phone to post something, according to the report.Police told Kent once again that she was under arrest and needed to put out her cigarette.
Kent was booked into the county jail and was arraigned Friday in Struthers Municipal Court.
She is free on bond and has another court hearing set for July.
